Taking the Work Out of Blood Work: A Provider's Guide

A Quality Improvement Approach

Similar to the way the Triage Questionnaire for Routine Clinic Procedures (pdf) can be used for planning prior to the procedure, another questionnaire can be used to evaluate performance (see Follow-up Questionnaire for Routine Clinic Procedures (pdf)). Information gathered from a few patient encounters may be enough to make key changes within a medical setting. Quality improvement techniques such as plan-do-study-act (PDSA) can be used to make incremental changes and rapid cycle improvements that lead to large improvements.
