This series of five 60-minute webinars will focus on the importance of classroom management strategies to increase academic and behavioral engagement in classrooms with individuals who have varying learning abilities. Topics will include preventative and reactive strategies, such as setting up your classroom for success, teaching expectations and routines, strategies for increasing engagement during instruction, and various types of reinforcement systems. Participants will be given time during each webinar to collaborate with other educators and participate in a community of support throughout the series. TRIAD consultants will be providing ongoing coaching support and feedback during the time frame of the webinar series (approximately 6 weeks of coaching support). Participants are encouraged to attend each webinar session in the series, as they each build upon content from the previous sessions. The main objective of this webinar series is to integrate and practice using these strategies. Develop an action plan for implementing these strategies in the classroom setting.
Webinar Series Dates and Topics
- January 7, 2020: Identify and discuss foundational practices for creating an effective learning environment, such as environmental arrangement, teaching expectations and routines, active supervision, and using visual supports.
- January 14, 2020: Introduce ways to promote active engagement during instruction, and matching task difficulty to student need.
- February 4, 2020: Understand varying methods for using classroom-wide reinforcement systems
- February 11, 2020: Understand varying methods for using reinforcement systems for individual students
- February 25, 2020: Review strategies for responding to inappropriate behavior
