A Leader's Guide to Increasing Engagement for Autistic Learners: An Asynchronous Course

This course aims to increase administrator capacity to support educators as they meet students' needs in their learning environments, including autistic students. This course will cover topics including evidence-based strategies, engaging learning environments, and behavioral topics pertaining to FAPE. This course is for LEA administrators in Tennessee who support educators who directly serve autistic students in a Pre-K-12 setting. This course will launch on October 3, 2023.

Participant Requirements Participants in this project must:
  1. Work as an administrator in the state of Tennessee.
  2. Review readings, online modules, and implementation guides on their own time, at their own pace.
  3. Finalize the entire asynchronous course (including reflection sheets) before June 30, 2024, to be eligible to receive a certificate of completion.

  1. Investigate characteristics of autism and how evidence-based practices (EBPs) improve outcomes for autistic learners.
  2. Increase awareness of common evidence-based practices and discover resources for learning more and to share with educators they support.

Online Learning Assignments Upon enrollment in the project, participants will create an account for TRIAD’s online learning platform and receive a course code for registration. The course is entirely self-paced, allowing participants to complete it at their convenience based on what works best with their schedules.
Proof of Attendance Participants will receive certificates documenting their participation in the asynchronous course and 4 hours of TASL credit. The course must be completed by June 30, 2024, to receive a certificate.
