Nashville Public Library Learn About Neurodiversity with TRIAD

: As part of the Nashville Public Library’s Community of Many Faces, Vanderbilt Kennedy Center’s Treatment and Research Institute for Autism Spectrum Disorders (TRIAD) will conduct a program focusing on Neurodiversity. Neurodiversity is the concept that neurological differences are to recognized and respected as any other human variation. As part of the program, a children’s story will be read with the moral of the story being acceptance of those who may learn differently than others, followed by decorating puzzle pieces to be put together as a permanent product for the host branch to have as a keepsake. While the children are decorating a puzzle, an informational session will be provided to adults present. The informational session may include a discussion led by an adult with neurological differences and the parent of a child with neurological differences.

Description of Learn About Neurodiversity with TRIAD

Children will read a story and decorate a puzzle for the library to have as a memorandum of the event while adults listen to guest speakers about autism spectrum disorders.
