Disability Employment Awareness Month panel discussion to be Oct. 21

October 2021 marks the 76th anniversary of National Disability Employment Awareness Month! Although the event has had other names through the years, the purpose of National Disability Employment Awareness Month is to educate businesses, governments, and the general population about disability employment issues and celebrate the many and varied contributions of America's workers with disabilities.

The VUMC Disability Employee Resource Group (ERG) invites everyone, whether you’re in a position to hire, or you’re a person with a disability, or you’re simply interested in learning more about the ongoing effort to create a more inclusive workplace, to attend a virtual panel presentation.

Panelists will share their diverse knowledge and experience regarding the progress made for the employment of people with disabilities as well as provide insight for ongoing changes.

VUMC currently has seven Employee Resource Groups, and they all have a focus on community (in-reach and outreach), career mentorship, culture and caring. The Disability ERG is looking for employees with disabilities of all kinds as well as allies who might be interested to be a part of our group.
