October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month, and the Vanderbilt Kennedy Center is once again hosting its annual disAbility Mentoring Day on Wednesday, Oct. 19, from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
disAbility Mentoring Day includes job-shadow and career exploration opportunities designed to link jobseekers with disabilities to employers interested in fostering more diverse work cultures and/or hiring people with disabilities. The day’s events begin with a meet-and-greet in Room 241 of the Vanderbilt Kennedy Center/One Magnolia Circle Building, after which job seekers will join their “mentors” at their respective job locations and shadow them while they work.
Coordinators are in need of Vanderbilt employees to mentor a job seeker with disabilities through job shadowing. Those who are interested are asked to complete a brief online application by Friday, Sept. 30.
Job seekers with disabilities interested in participating in disAbility Mentoring Day are asked to complete this application and return to Lynnette Henderson, Ph.D., at lynnette.henderson@vanderbilt.edu. The deadline to submit the application is Friday, Sept. 30.
For more information, visit the DMD Events page on the VKC Events Calendar or contact Lynnette Henderson at (615) 936-0448 or ">lynnette.henderson@vanderbilt.edu.
