The next VKC Clinical Translational Core Training Series Seminar, titled "Introduction to the NEW Vineland Adaptive Behavior Scales -- Third Edition," will be held Monday, Nov. 14, from 12:00-1:00 p.m. in Room 241 of the Vanderbilt Kennedy Center, located at 110 Magnolia Circle, Nashville. Presenting will be Evon Batey Lee, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Pediatrics, Psychology, and Psychiatry, Associate Director of the Vanderbilt Consortium LEND, UCEDD Training Director, and VKC Neurobehavioral Phenotypes Coordinator.
The Vineland Adaptive Behavior Scales has been one of the most widely used measures of social adaptive behavior for decades. The newest version—the Vineland 3—has been recently published and continues to be an important assessment instrument for use with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities across the life span. It is helpful in making diagnostic and intervention decisions in clinical settings, as well as in behavioral phenotyping with research participants. This session will provide a brief introduction to the Vineland 3, including a short discussion of the concept of adaptive behavior, comparisons to the Vineland-II, new test form options, and an overview of administration and scoring rules. Everyone is welcome to attend, but this session may be most relevant for clinicians, research team members, and graduate students who work with individuals with a range of disabilities and their families.
