SENSE Theatre and the Vanderbilt Kennedy Center will present the play "HATS" on Friday and Saturday, Mar. 9 and 10, at both evenings at 7:00 p.m. at the Troutt/Black Box Theatre Complex, on Compton Ave. near Belmont Blvd.
"HATS" is directed by Catherine Coke, with music by Ed Bazel and Tammy Vice and lyrics by Blythe Corbett and is part of the NIMH-funded multi-site study of social competance and autism. SENSE Theatre includes youth with autism spectrum disorder and trained peer actors from University School of Nashville.
Both performances are open to the public. Performances are free, but advance reservation is recommended as seating is limited.

NOTE: The SENSE Theatre family mourns the resent loss of “HATS” director and long-standing theatre director Catherine Coke on Feb. 21 after a relentless, hard-fought battle with cancer. Catherine was committed to the mission of SENSE Theatre - to enhance the social and emotional functioning of children with autism spectrum disorder. For the past 7 and a half years, Catherine directed more than a dozen programs for SENSE, inspired hundreds of children with autism, and introduced the transformative impact of theatre to dozens of University School of Nashville peer actors. We remember Catherine with deep respect, commitment and her belief in the power of theatre to transform lives.
