With the proliferation of electronic databases, it is possible for researchers to acquire an amazing breadth and depth of information on study populations. Combining the data on individuals scattered across diverse datasets can be very difficult. Record linkage techniques can be used to help connect the dots.
Coupler is an attempt at a different kind of record linkage program that is easier to use. Our goal for Coupler is that it is able to be used on different operating systems within a context that many people already understand: the web browser.
This talk covers two main points. First, Urbano and Stephens will explain the scientific reasons for combining data from multiple sources. Second, they will describe some of the features of and philosophy behind Coupler, and what their future goals are for this project.
