Carter awarded 2021 Champion of Inclusion Community Award from All Belong Center for Inclusive Education

Erik Carter, Ph.D., was honored with the 2021 Champion of Inclusion Community Award at the All Belong Center for Community Inclusion

Cornelius Vanderbilt Chair and Professor of Special Education Erik Carter, Ph.D., was honored with the 2021 Champion of Inclusion Community Award from the All Belong Center for Inclusive Education. Carter received the award virtually during All Belong's Circle of Friends Dinner, held on Oct. 11 in Hudsonville, Michigan.

According to their website, the mission of All Belong is "to equip congregations and schools to glorify God through purposeful, innovative inclusion of persons with varied abilities."

Erik Carter's world-renowned research and teaching focus on evidence-based strategies for supporting inclusion and valued roles for individuals with disabilities in school, work, community, and congregational settings.

In addition to his academic work, Carter also serves as co-director of the VKC University Center of Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (VKC UCEDD).
