A New Concept: Neurodevelopmental Etiology of Huntington’s Disease

This special lecture was presented on August 19, 2022.

Presented by Peggy C. Nopoulos, M.D., Professor of Psychiatry, Carver School of Medicine, University of Iowa Health Care

Dr. Nopoulos' lab studies the structure and function of the brain using imaging tools such as MRI and cognitive/behavioral assessment in pediatric and young adult individuals at-risk for Huntington disease. Her lab is investigating the role of mutant Huntington on brain neurodevelopment in pediatric population and as such, provide an argument to start studying HD as a neurodevelopmental condition as opposed to a neurodegenerative condition.
