Overview of Interests
Dr. Gifford's research focuses on speech perception and psychophysical properties of acoustic hearing and the combination of electric and acoustic hearing in adults and children with cochlear implants and hearing aids. The goal of Dr. Gifford's research is to improve speech perception and communication abilities for adults and children with hearing loss. Experiments in the lab over the past few years have focused on the minimum acoustic bandwidth necessary to observe 'bimodal' benefit for speech perception in quiet and noise.
