Overview of Interests
Dr. Muscatello's research interests seek to examine physiological response profiles during social interaction and the utility of physiology in elucidating risk factors for psychiatric comorbidities in individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). She aims to integrate both clinical and neuroscientific perspectives in developing her research, using multiple methods for assessing psychosocial functioning, including behavioral observation, neuropsychological measures, biological markers of physiological regulation and reactivity such as heart rate variability and salivary cortisol, as well as parent- and self-report.
