Overview of Interests
Dr. Peredo's research program aligns with the topics of communication and learning and family support. Her research focuses on multilingual and monolingual language development and intervention in early childhood, with a focus on Latino children with developmental language delays, autism, cleft palate and their families. Her research program’s goal is to identify effective and culturally and linguistically appropriate early language interventions for young children with different diagnoses that impact their language development. Many of Dr. Peredo's studies include parent coaching and support. In addition to advocating for appropriate intervention for Latino and Spanish-speaking children residing in the U.S., she is also interested in implementation of effective early language interventions across Latin America. In 2023, she was awarded a U.S. Fulbright Scholar fellowship to conduct early language intervention implementation research for children with cleft palate (with or without cleft lip) in Brazil.
