Tina Prochaska

Overview of Interests

Tina Prochaska grew up with a younger brother who is deaf. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Deaf Education and her master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville. She has been a faculty member at the Tennessee School for the Deaf since 1980, first as a primary and elementary school teacher, and then as a Communication Specialist.

Prochaska has been a Sibshop leader since 1992, and she is a member of the Sibling Support Project Advisory Board, the National Sibling Leadership Network, and Tennessee Adult Brothers and Sisters. She was the keynote speaker at the Canadian Deafblind and Rubella Association (Ontario Chapter Parent Conference) in Toronto in 2007, and she was the plenary speaker at the 8th International CHARGE Syndrome Conference in Costa Mesa, California, in 2007. She was the plenary speaker at the 7th Canadian Conference on Deafblindness in Winnipeg in 2006, and in 2003, she was the keynote speaker at the Italian National Conference on Siblings of Deaf People (“Essere Fratelli”) in Brescia, Italy.
