Overview of Interests

Dr. Watson's research focuses on understanding the brain and psychological processes that underlie language production, comprehension, and reading. His specific interests lie in understanding prosody, which is the rhythmic and intonational aspects of language.Dr. Watson also has lines of research investigating individual differences in processing grammatical structure. He investigates these questions in typical populations and populations with disabilities (e.g. cochlear implanted, Down syndrome, and autism spectrum disorder) and in children and adults.
