Word Learning from Verbal Descriptions

Principal Investigator: Megan Saylor, Ph.D.

Description

Studies in the Language Development Lab explore how infants and young children learn and use language.

For this study, we are interested in how 2-5-year-old children learn language. We have children listen to a description of a novel creature and then ask them to choose which is the correct picture of the novel creature. We will also ask children questions about other words they know and ask if they can remember and search for objects.

The study involves a one-time visit of about an hour to our playroom on the Vanderbilt campus (Peabody College).

Participant Criteria

2- to 5-year-old children

Compensation

Children receive a toy or book for taking part.
