Description
The Child Language and Literacy Lab at Vanderbilt is looking for preschoolers to participate in a study about language development. The study will focus on children's complex sentences. Our goal is to find a valid and efficient complex sentence measure for speech-language pathologists and researchers to use.
Who:
- Age within 3;0-5;11 range
- Monolingual English speaker
- Parent reports that the child uses some four-word sentences
- Child does not have hearing loss, autism, uncorrected visual impairment, intellectual disability, or neurological impairment (e.g., cerebral palsy)
What children will do:
- 90-120 minutes (1 or 2 visits depending on child's age and attention)
- Finish patterns of shapes and figures
- Repeat sentences
- Describe pictures and toy scenes
- Complete hearing screening
- Complete language assessment measures
Participant Criteria
Children ages 3;0-5;11
Compensation
Participants will receive up to $50 as compensation for their time.
