Brain Changes Across Pregnancy

Principal Investigator: Kathryn Humphreys, Ph.D.

Description

The Brain Changes in Pregnancy Study is a research project that aims to understand more about a pregnant person's brain throughout the pregnancy. Participation involves four study visits, each one month apart during your pregnancy, as well as one remote follow-up visit after your child is born. For each visit, you would be asked to come into our research lab at Vanderbilt University & the Vanderbilt Imaging Center to complete an MRI scan, an EEG, cognitive tests, questionnaires, and biospecimen collection (saliva, blood, hair).

Each study visit will take up to five hours, and visits will be spaced a month apart. Participants will be able to earn up to $920 for completion of the entire study. We will do our absolute best to accommodate your busy schedule by offering flexible scheduling during the day, nights and weekends. If you have other children, we can provide childcare by trained staff members during the sessions, and we can also help provide or cover the costs of transportation. We understand that this study involves a lot of effort on your part, but we are hoping to find pregnant people willing to contribute to our understanding of the brain during this under-researched period.
