Rhythm and Timing in Autism

Principal Investigator: Miriam Lense, Ph.D.

Other researchers: Noah R. Fram, Ph.D.

Description

We are interested in how people perceive rhythms and music, and how those kinds of perception vary among autistic and non-autistic individuals. In this study, you will:

  • Play some rhythm and tapping games,
  • Watch some movies,
  • Do some short tests of your thinking and cognition, and
  • Fill out some surveys about yourself and your musical engagement.

For some of the time, you will be wearing a cap to collect data on what your brain is doing. It will feel like a warm swimming cap.

The whole study will take 2-4 hours, and may be split up into two sessions if it's taking more than ~2 hours. You can do these sessions back-to-back, as if they are one long visit, or on separate days.

Participant Criteria

Adults (18-50 years) who are fluent native English speakers with no current speech, hearing, or non-corrected visual impairments.

Compensation

Participants receive $25/visit in gift cards
