Overview of Interests

Andrea Capizzi’s clinical and research interests are focused on improving instructional outcomes for students with disabilities through effective pre-service teacher development and preparation, and in-service support and training. She is engaged in developing and evaluating programs to enhance practices to provide effective feedback to pre-service teachers in special education teacher preparation programs, preparing paraeducators to use evidence-based practices, and training educators in classroom management and positive behavior supports. Her efforts primarily center on students with emotional-behavioral challenges, attention deficit disorder, and learning disabilities. These clinical and research interests align with the Vanderbilt Kennedy Center’s mission to translate knowledge into practice, and to disseminate information to practitioners and the community to enhance the lives of individuals with disabilities.
