Overview of Interests
After a decade of senior administration/leadership roles in academia and public health, Dr. Trevathan is returning to faculty, and relaunching his research as a pediatric neurologist and public health physician/epidemiologist, with an emphasis on multi-disciplinary global health problems related to maternal and child health and development in low-resource environments. He is currently focusing on developing, piloting, and testing systems of care for mothers and children with what the World Health Organization refers to as "mental health disorders" -- common, severe neurological, psychiatric, and substance abuse disorders in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs).
