Description
Volunteer for Research at the Vanderbilt University Brain Development Lab
Who:
d/Deaf, hard of hearing and hearing children ages 10-17 years old who use sign language and/or oral language, or both. No cochlear implants due to use of the MRI.
What:
- Two visits to the Brain Development Lab
- Play computer games
- Standardized tests
- Experience a mock MRI and a real MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging)
- Hearing Test
Why:
Help us discover how children who are d/Deaf and hard of hearing learn to read! Our goal is to provide a foundation for future research that will develop reading interventions for these children! Find out if your child is eligible to participate by completing this short questionnaire!
Families will receive their child's test scores, a picture of their brain, and compensation for participating. Parents will also be paid for transportation expenses and accommodations (airfare, hotel, etc.) for those who must drive a long way or fly to Nashville!
