Description
We need children that have completed kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, or 3rd grade to participate in a reading/spelling intervention study.
We will teach children to identify the sounds in words with consonant blends. This skill may help your child become a better reader and speller.
We will complete an assessment with your child to see if he or she is eligible to participate in the intervention.
If your child is eligible, your child will attend 20-minute interventions via Zoom for up to 12 weeks, two to four times per week. You and your child will be compensated for the assessment visit and ongoing virtual participation.
If you sign the consent form, fill out the included demographic survey and your child completes the initial assessment but is NOT eligible to participate in the intervention, you will receive a $50 gift card. If you come to the research lab at Vanderbilt University Medical Center for the initial assessment, you will receive an additional $25 gift card. If your child is eligible to participate in the intervention and completes activities listed in "What will my child do?" above, for each month in which your child participated, you will receive a $50 gift card. The maximum amount you will receive is $375.00
