Vanderbilt Research Study for Preschoolers

Principal Investigator: Laura Corona, Ph.D.

Description

We are conducting a research study for preschool-aged children to learn how well a telehealth assessment tool, the TELE-ASD-PEDS-Preschool (TAP-P), helps identify early signs of autism. The study is for children 36–72 months old (3–6 years).

Families who choose to participate will complete:

  • One telehealth visit with a licensed clinician
  • One in-person developmental evaluation at Vanderbilt
  • Brief caregiver questionnaires before and after each visit

Both visits focus on play, communication, and early developmental skills. The study is considered minimal risk, and participation is voluntary.

Who can participate?

Children ages 36–72 months with normal or corrected-to-normal vision and hearing who:

  • Have typical development, or
  • Have developmental differences not related to autism, or
  • Have been referred for an autism evaluation

Families must also have access to a device that can support a telehealth visit and be able to travel to Vanderbilt for the in-person appointment.

Participant Criteria

Children 36–72 months old (3–6 years)

Compensation

Families who take part will receive a $100 gift card after in-person visit as a thank-you for participating.
